The Chief Observer will release EU mission’s observation preliminary report on the second round of the presidential elections on Friday, 11 May 2007

Dili, 8 May 2007 - The Chief Observer of the European Union Election Observation Mission Timor-Leste 2007, Javier POMÉS RUIZ, arrived in Dili to observe the second round of the presidential elections on 9 May 2007.

Javier POMÉS RUIZ, a member of the European Parliament from Spain, visited most of the country, including Viqueque, Baucau and Manatuto on Monday. The EU Election Observation Mission has 38 members and will remain in Timor-Leste until the announcement of the final results.

On Election Day, the EU mission Chief Observer will observe the opening of voting in Dili and will then visit polling stations in other districts, such as Aileu. Later, he will observe the closing and counting activities.

On Friday, 11 May, at 9 am, Javier POMÉS RUIZ will announce the preliminary findings of the EU mission on the second round of the presidential elections at a Press Conference in the main conference room of Hotel Timor.
